CW Hill Country Ranch isn't just a Wedding Venue and Bed & Breakfast. For over thirty years it was a successful working ranch and home to several award winning State Champion cattle! And although our family has been in this area since 1847 and our history is steeped in stories of cowboys and Indians, you'd never imagine a cowboy designed this 10,000+ square foot house of shear elegance. With marble floors, 22' high ceilings, mahogany bookshelves, an antique chandelier brought in from Europe, oversized rooms with private bathrooms, and outdoor sitting areas with a pool and amazing views of the Texas Hill Country, it's hard to believe that at one time, there were cattle, horses, sheep and chicken wandering around. And the beauty of this property - your guests are only miles away from 5-star hotels in San Antonio, award winning golf courses, skeet shooting, vineyards and some of the most visited and charming Hill Country towns like Boerne, Fredericksburg and Comfort.
Inspired by our daughter who was married at someone else's barn wedding venue, we decided to take our family homestead and turn it into a rustic yet elegant barn and outdoor ceremony site. Nestled in 70 acres of secluded property, we have a barn reception hall that can accommodate up to 300 guests, a variety of ceremony sites with gorgeous views and spectacular sunsets, bridal suite and grooms quarters, and the bed and breakfast which accommodations up to 25 guests so you can relax and enjoy a weekend wedding retreat. The icing on the cake - a beautiful little honeymoon cottage with breathtaking views for the bride and groom's wedding night!
God has blessed us with this beautiful home which we would like to share with you.
Our mission is to provide a serene escape for our guests from their busy lifestyle and allow them to experience peace and serenity. We will provide the highest quality service and standards for our guests and maintain a clean, comfortable and relaxed environment. We will serve our guests with grace and hospitality always adhering to our Christian values.
CW Hill Country RanchOur History
The owners of CW Hill Country Ranch are descendants of Ottmahr von Behr, the first permanent settler in Sisterdale, Texas. Their stone house, built in 1847 (and only four miles from the CW Ranch property) can still be seen on Ranch Road 1376 on the South Side of the Guadalupe River. The CW brand was fist registered in the late 1800s by the parents of Christian Wolleschlager, whose mother was a von Behr. The custom was for each young child to receive a heifer calf on each birthday. By doing this, the child would have a nice herd when they were grown. Unfortunately, Christian was trampled and died in a tragic accident in Boerne, while rescuing a woman and child on a runaway wagon. His brand was retired and kept in the von Behr barn until the Texas HemisFair in 1968 where it was placed in an exhibit showcasing the early Texas Hill Country German settlers. After the fair, the brand was given to the current owners of the ranch who had it re-registered and have used it for the last 30 years to brand their cattle.
